CHANEL PARIS - MOSCOU PREVIEW IMAGES by KARL LAGERFELD

Photo shoot of the Paris Moscou ( Pre-fall 2009 - Métiers d'Arts collection) fashion show that took place at Le Théâtre Le Ranelagh, featuring Sasha Pivovarova by Karl Lagerfeld.

The pictures were taken on the Pont Alexandre III which was built at the end of the 19th century as part of a series of projects undertaken for the Universal Exposition of 1900. One of the requirements for the bridge was that it should not obstruct the view on the Invalides and Champs-Elysées. The bridge is lavishly decorated with lampposts and sculptures of cherubs, gilt nymphs, bouncy horses, candelabra, lions and garlands. Upstream, les Nymphes de la Seine (the Seine Nymphs) are representing the arms of Paris, while the downstream - where Sasha is posing ? - les Nymphes de la Néva (Nymphs of the Neva) represent the arms of Russia.

Even though construction of the bridge only started in May 1897, the first stone was already laid by the Russian Tsar Nicolas II in October 1896. The bridge - which was to symbolize Russian-French friendship - was named after his father, Tsar Alexander III. The Bridge opened just in time for the Universal Exposition of 1900.

More pictures after the jump.

Sasha was one of the best choice Karl could have made. The lights and the scenery are great, not top mention the collection, bien sûr!
